1. Smashburger opened its third Westchester restaurant, in Greenburgh—presumably to accommodate all of the local beef-patty lovers with something against peanut shells stuck to their loafers.

2. Port Chester Police Chief Joseph Krzeminski, 62, was charged with tampering with and retaliating against a witness in an FBI investigation of the disappearance of $26,000+ in cash and narcotics from the PoCho PD’s evidence room.

3. White Plains’ Stepinac High School is the first in the US to take its 40-textbook library completely digital. Students pay an annual $150 for access, versus up to $600 a year on hard copies.

4. The Fontana family of Rye was relieved when Echo, their 5-year-old autistic son’s service dog, was delivered home after nine days by a woman who saw the black Lab on a missing-pet flyer in Whole Foods. The kind stranger refused the $1,000 reward.

5. As of the third quarter of last year, County foreclosures were at their highest total since 2009, 53 percent higher than in 2012.
