Hudson Valley Restaurant Week (HVRW) is well on its way and, as one of Westchester’s leading generators of tourism, there was no better way to kick-off Valley Table’s two-week long event than alongside Westchester County Tourism.
Organization and local government officials, as well as a hand-selected group of food bloggers, gathered at Eugene’s Diner, Port Chester’s retro-style eatery from David DiBari, to commence HVRW and sneak a preview of what DiBari plans to offer one his special Restaurant Week menu.
At the event, Natasha Caputo, Director of Westchester County Tourism; Bridget Gibbons, the County Executive’s Director of Economic Development; Michael Martinelli, Valley Table Group Publisher; and Port Chester Mayor Richard Falanka all spoke highly of HVRW’s positive and lasting impact on the county, as well as the importance of David DiBari’s restaurant empire and the excitement Eugene’s Diner, his latest project, has stirred in the county.

DiBari himself spoke of his love for HVRW and how it brings people together to enjoy the county dining scene, before showcasing his unique HVRW offering: Eugene’s “T.V. Dinner.” Served on a retro food tray, DiBari plates a bowl of matzo ball soup, a season chopped salad, and a heartwarming helping of meatloaf and mashed potates with gravy. A dessert cake is conveniently served on the tray as well.
“[Restaurant Week is] a driving force in the attention that it brings all of the amazingly talented, passionate restaurateurs and chefs, our county, and all the beautiful agriculture we have right here in Westchetser,” says DiBari. “You don’t have to go very far to have really great things.”
In its 13th year, HVRW features 200-plus restaurants representing a vast array of Westchester and the Hudson Valley’s distinguished groups of chefs and restaurateurs. Each participating eatery offers a three-course, $32.95 special dinner menu, while a handful will also offer three-course $22.95 lunches. This year, Restaurant Week lasts from November 4-17.
