Two New Appointments at WMCHealth

Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) has hired James Y. Lee, FACHE, as Senior Vice President for Operations at the Westchester Medical Center. Prior to his appointment, Lee served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. In his new role, Lee will oversee all ancillary services and clinical support areas on the Valhalla and Poughkeepsie campuses, including pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, and respiratory care, as well as all clinical service lines. WMCHealth also welcomes Rifat Latifi, MD, FACS, as Director of the Department of Surgery and Chief of General Surgery at Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, and MidHudson Regional Hospital. Dr. Latifi brings expertise in general surgery and is the author/editor of 13 books in complex surgery, nutrition, and telemedicine. Latifi will oversee all surgical operations in nearly every specialty.

Westchester Bank Appoints VP, Director of Cash Management

The Westchester Bank announced the appointment of lifelong Westchester resident Costas Boumis to the position of Vice President, Director of Cash Management. Boumis brings more than 25 years of banking experience and will spearhead the Cash Management Sales Department in his new position. “Westchester is a special community to both live and work in,” says Boumis. “It feels great to be part of community bank that not only competes very well against larger banks, but also has a better understanding of the Westchester market that can only come from being part of the local landscape.”

Pace University Names Dean of the Seidenberg School

Following a national search, Pace University announced the appointment of Dr. Jonathan H. Hill to Dean of the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems. Hill has nearly three decades of experience in both academia and the private sector. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Hill has served as Program Chair (Computing Information Systems), Director of Special Programs and Projects, Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, and most recently as Interim Dean. He is a founder and director of the Pace STEM Collaboratory, as well as Seidenberg Creative Labs. Hill has cultivated government and corporate programs with organizations including Google, Bank of New York Mellon, Hewlett Packard, NYC Department of Education, New York City Economic Development Corporation, and others.

Two Attorneys Join Dorf & Nelson LLP

Michael D. Hess, formally the Corporation Counsel of the City of New York under Mayor Giuliani, has joined Dorf & Nelson LLP. Hess serves as the firm’s newest Senior Counsel; he will locate in the firm’s New York City and Westchester offices. 

Attorney Alvin F. Benton, Jr. also joins Dorf & Nelson as the newest member of the Litigation Department. Benton is an accomplished presenter and writer, with accolades including the Nation’s Best Advocate Award from the National Bar Association and a Lawyers of Color Hot List Honoree.

New Sales Executive Hired at Atlantic Westchester

Atlantic Westchester, a commercial and industrial HVAC business located in Bedford Hills, recently hired Bob Murphy as its new Sales Executive. Murphy, a Certified Energy Manager, will assist with growing Atlantic Westchester’s NYC presence in HVAC maintenance and energy efficiency retrofits. Murphy will work alongside Atlantic Westchester’s engineers to help clients identify energy conservation opportunities, take advantage of utility rebates and incentives and receive federal and state tax deduction benefits. Atlantic Westchester’s suite of energy efficiency services includes heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, customized equipment maintenance programs, benchmarking and building management systems.

UBS Financial Inc. Appoints Managing Director

UBS Financial Services Inc. – the U.S. operation of UBS Wealth Management Americas and a subsidiary of UBS AG – appointed Barry P. Mitchell, Jr. to Managing Director, the highest rank that a Financial Advisor may attain at UBS. In January 2016, Mitchell re-located his wealth management team, The Mitchell WealthCare Group, from New York City to White Plains to better serve the needs of his clients in Westchester County. Prior to joining UBS in 2011, he spent nearly a decade at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in addition to other key financial management roles.

Greiner-Maltz Appoints Executive Managing Associate Broker

Scott H. Benson has joined Greiner-Maltz Realty Advisors, based in Rye Brook, as an Executive Managing Associate Broker. Benson is a 34-year veteran of the metropolitan and suburban New York commercial real estate brokerage field and founder of Benson Commercial Realty, Inc. He joined Greiner-Maltz while in the process of concluding two corporate Westchester transactions, totaling $2.5 million and 16,591 rentable square-feet (RSF). Benson will continue offering his expertise to office, medical, and industrial users and investors in the Westchester, Fairfield, Bronx and Rockland environs.

New M&T Bank Leader in Westchester County

M&T Bank announced the appointment of Julie Simmons to vice president and relationship manager for business and professional banking in Westchester County. Simmons previously served as vice president of small business banking for Bank of America, where she led and managed a team to provide comprehensive financial solutions to new and existing small business customers. In her new role at M&T, Simmons will meet with business owners to identify the best financing and lending solutions to help them reach their professional goals.
