Nicholas Marwell Joins the Senior Management of Curtis Instruments, Inc.
Curtis Instruments, Inc., headquartered in Mount Kisco since 1960, has announced that Nicholas Marwell will join the corporation as Vice President, New Business Development. He represents the third generation of the family to be actively involved in the management of the company, which was founded by his grandfather Edward M. Marwell and Curtis Beusman. Like his father, Stuart Marwell, the current president and CEO of Curtis, Nicholas Marwell had first established a successful career outside of Curtis prior to joining the company on the senior management level. He holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Environmental Policy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Connecticut College.
He joins the company after more than five years holding successively responsible positions at the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C.
Marissa Brett Makes Surprise Departure from WCA
Just 15 months into her tenure as President of the Westchester County Association, Marissa Brett announced earlier this week that she is stepping down from her position, reportedly to pursue other opportunities. In a statement emailed to WCA members and press, William M. Mooney, Jr., WCA’s CEO, announced that in order to “ensure a smooth transition, I will assume her responsibilities forthwith.” Brett joined the WCA in 2011 as Executive Director of Economic Development, and was named President in 2014. Prior to joining the WCA, Brett worked in the commercial real estate industry.
Michael Fosina Named President of NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital recently announced that Michael J. Fosina, M.P.H., F.A.C.H.E., has been named President of NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital. Fosina, who grew up and still lives in New Rochelle, succeeds Edward M. Dinan who is retiring after 15 years as President and CEO of Lawrence. The announcement was made by Dr. Steven J. Corwin, the Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Laura L. Forese, President of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, which Lawrence Hospital joined a year ago. After serving for many years as Executive Director of NewYork-Presbyterian’s Allen Pavilion, Fosina has most recently been Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NYP/Lower Manhattan Hospital, helping establish NYP’s sixth campus. “I am delighted and enthused about the opportunity to help continue the positive impact that NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital has made in Westchester County and the surrounding region,” Fosina said. “Together, we will work together to keep patients first.”
ContraFect Appoints Cara Cassino, MD, as Chief Medical Officer
ContraFect Corporation, a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of protein therapeutics and antibody products for life-threatening, drug-resistant infectious diseases, today announced has appointed Cara Cassino, MD as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Cassino brings extensive clinical development experience to ContraFect from global pharmaceutical leaders including Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc, Pfizer Inc, and Forest Laboratories, Inc. (acquired by Actavis plc, now Allergan plc). Most recently, Dr. Cassino held the position of Senior Vice President, Global Clinical Development at Forest Laboratories, Inc (Forest) and served on its R&D Executive Leadership team.
HEINEKEN USA Adds to Its Corporate Communications Staff
Amy Palladino has been recently hired as the Senior Director of Corporate Communications for HEINEKEN USA, based in White Plains. In her role, Palladino reports to Tara Rush, SVP and Chief Corporate Relations officer, and joins the HEINEKEN USA management team. Managing three people, Palladino will oversee day-to-day corporate communications, consumer marketing engagements and special projects for corporate and brand public relations, employee and distributor engagement, consumer response, and crisis communications. Amy joins HEINEKEN USA from Emanate, a midsize public relations agency, where she most recently served as director in the New York office.
Girls Inc. Westchester Leadership Transition
Nicole Lesser, Executive Director at Girls Inc. Westchester, has completed her tenure in that position. She is being replaced by an Interim Executive Director, Nancy Levin, while the nonprofit group’s board of directors searches for a permanent candidate for its top position. Among other accomplishments, Lesser is credited with successfully helping the organization relocate to new, expanded offices in North White Plains. According to Girls Inc. Westchester’s statement, the group expects continuity of all of its programs, including the launch of a new formal mentoring program, during the transition phase.
Former Marketer for KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Joins LSW Chauffeured Transportation
LSW Chauffeured Transportation (LSW), which provides chauffeured service to residents and businesspeople in Westchester, New York City and Connecticut, appointed Meredith A. Bach as Vice President of Sales and Marketing earlier this month. LSW’s CEO, Melissa Thornton says that Bach was hired to the executive team to “leverage her luxury brand experience and long history of results-oriented sales and marketing strategies.” Bach most recently oversaw all aspects of the hospitality venues, and served as the point person for corporate clients, at the inaugural KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, held at Westchester Country Club in June 2015. At LSW, Bach will play a key role in developing marketing and business plans to help LSW continue growing.
