Green Business Partnership Honors Six Local Organizations
Earlier this month, The Green Business Partnership honored six area organizations with a host of accolades during the 10th Annual Green Business Partnership Awards. The Green Business Partnership is a sustainability certification program founded by the Business Council of Westchester along with Green Team Spirit LLC and Westchester County.
Award recipients included Cerebral Palsy of Westchester, The Rey Insurance Agency, Purchase College, Westmed Medical Group, Saratoga Springs Public Library, and Regeneron. The awards were given in categories representing the Green Business Partnership’s certification process, as well as one in honor of the late green business leader Charlie Brown.

Executive Director of LMC Media Wins 2020 Hometown Media Award
The Executive Director of Mamaroneck-based LMC Media, Matt Sullivan, received the 2020 Hometown Media Award for Emerging Leader from the Alliance for Community Media Foundation. The Emerging Leader Award recognizes a professional, less than 40 years of age, who works in the field of community media and consistently demonstrates the values of community building through media.
The recognition was originally established to honor and promote community media and local programs on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels. “Matt is very passionate and dedicated to both the media industry and our staff,” said Dena Schumacher, Assistant Director at LMC Media, in a statement. “He is an inspiring person to work for and very deserving of this prestigious award.”
Business Council of Westchester Presents Hall of Fame Awards
On July 14, the economic development and advocacy organization Business Council of Westchester held a virtual ceremony honoring six acclaimed organizations during the 2020 Business Hall of Fame Awards. The 2020 honorees include ArtsWestchester, Simone Development Companies, Wheelabrator Technologies, Unitex, Robison Oil, and Zyloware Eyewear. The honorees will join more than 95 prior Hall of Fame inductees.
“The quality of this year’s inductees is truly outstanding,” said Business Council of Westchester President and CEO Marsha Gordon in a statement. “They represent the very best of Westchester businesses and represent a wide range of industry sectors,’’ accessories; two highly successful women in the commercial real estate field and the largest private not for profit arts council in New York State.

Three Lever & Ecker Attorneys Recognized by Super Lawyers
White Plains’ Lever & Ecker, PLLC, recently announced that three of its attorneys have received recognition from Super Lawyers. The firm’s founding partners Daniel G. Ecker and David B. Lever have been recognized as 2020 Super Lawyers, while associate attorney Adam C. Weiss was recognized as a 2020 Super Lawyers Rising Star.
All three work in personal injury practice. The honors are given to lawyers based upon peer recognition and professional achievement, with no more than five percent of attorneys in New York recognized by Super Lawyers in a single year.
Phelps Hospital, Northwell Health Designated LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader
This month, Phelps Hospital, Northwell Health announced that it has been designated a 2020 LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, a national education organization focused on equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
To be awarded the honor, Phelps staff had to complete training in LGBTQ patient-centered care and the hospital was required to have policies that “specifically outline procedures and practices aimed at eliminating bias and insensitivity, and ensuring appropriate, welcoming interactions with transgender patients,” according to a release.
“This designation signals to communities throughout the area that we welcome people who are LGBTQIA+ and strive to be exceptionally knowledgeable about their particular health care needs,” says Robbins L. Gottlock, MD, VP & Associate Medical Director at Phelps Hospital. “Expert services are especially important now during the COVID-19 pandemic, which may present additional health challenges for these groups.”
