In 2001, when the Jacob Burns Film Center opened in Pleasantville, skeptics scoffed at the notion that an art theater could make it in Westchester. Then The Picture House in Pelham followed suit in the south. And now, two more independent film houses: Sundance (yes, of Robert Redford fame), in Dobbs Ferry, and Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, plan to open here, neatly encircling the County in high-brow film. No one’s scoffing now.
