While the Outhouse family doesn’t own the delightful little store with the great cider donuts anymore (that’s now a separate entity called Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard), you can still pick apples every September and October on land the Outhouses have been farming since the early 1900s. The orchard, with its sweeping views of Northern Westchester, is the place to pick Romes, Baldwins, Cortlands, and more each fall. Make a day of it: Wind your way through a corn maze, bump along the fields in a tractor to plan your apple-picking strategy, and then fill your bags. Our advice: Go early in the season, when there are smaller crowds and the trees still have plenty of apples.
