Sick of throwing your hair up in the same old topknot on not-so-nice hair days? We tapped Violeta Mrizaj, owner of the Mode de Vie hair studio in Eastchester, for advice on this season’s coolest braid trend, the Dutch braid, for a more polished look.

1. Start by bringing your hair to one side and dividing the hair at the top of your head into three sections.

2. Feed the right section underneath the center section then repeat on the left.

3. Add hair as you repeat step 2 making sure to pull hair in from the back, as well.

4. Gently pull apart different sections to loosen the braid overall.

5. Finish with hairspray.
