A surprise performance by PKM Polish Folk Dance Ensemble celebrates a Hudson Valley couple’s homeland in Poland.
Cold Spring couple Anna and Krystian Kuranowski were delighted to learn that cake was not the only after-dinner pleasure on offer at their November 2021 wedding. About halfway through the reception, guests were treated to a surprise performance by Polish folk-dance group PKM Polish Folk Dance Ensemble. “We weren’t expecting a performance, but we loved having something from our culture be a part of our special day,” the bride remembers. “We were both born in Poland, and I used to dance in another group, so it was nice to have a highlight from our culture.”
Anna danced with a Polish folk group throughout her teenage years, and the couple’s mothers were able to find and secure the Philadelphia-based ensemble to perform traditional dances during the reception — all unbeknownst to the betrotheds. “It was very special to me, and my top favorite moment of the day,” she adds.
