Brooks and Tiger may be the fan favorites at this week’s US Open, but two Westchester golfers will provide some exciting golf to watch as well.
Cameron Young, a four-time MGA champion from Scarborough, secured his trip to Pebble Beach by beating the qualifying field at Old Oaks and Century by five strokes. This will be his first US Open appearance, although he has competed in the US Amateur Championship. He graduated from Wake Forest this spring after leading the Deacons to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships.

Young’s team was eliminated by Stanford, which was lead by another Westchester golfer, Brandon Wu from Scarsdale, who qualified to play in the US Open in the sectional event in Ohio. Wu graduated from Stanford this year after capping his college career with the NCAA Championship.
Young, 22, won back-to-back Ike MGA Stroke Play titles, a Met Junior, and was the first amateur to win the NYS Open at Bethpage Black in 2017. He’s the son of Sleepy Hollow CC head pro David Young.

Wu, whose family belongs to Scarsdale GC, won the 2017 Porter Cup and was invited to an informal practice session for 2019 Walker Cup hopefuls.
If you want to follow them in action at Pebble Beach, Wu starts at 11:35 a.m. Thursday and 5:20 p.m. Friday while Young tees off Thursday at 3:41 p.m. and 9:56 AM on Friday. All times are EDT.
