Across Westchester this Friday, people will celebrate Veterans Day at various events. Here’s a rundown of where you can honor our veterans.
• Cortlandt: There will be a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center with a guest speaker and a performance from The 89th Army Band.
• Hartsdale: The new Greenburgh Veterans Memorial at De Santi Plaza is set to be dedicated this Friday at 2 p.m. Veterans, families, and the public are encouraged to attend, and donations can be made to the Greenburgh Veterans Memorial Fund at their GoFundMe page here.
• Somers: The Veterans Day Parade is set to start at 10:30 a.m., and the ceremony will be at 11 a.m. at the Somers Town House. There will be refreshments following the ceremony.
• New Rochelle: The ceremony hosted by the United Veterans of New Rochelle is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Plaza. There will be a celebration the following day on November 12 at the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum at 2 p.m.
• Yonkers: The Veterans Day Ceremony is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Plaza near City Hall, and a service hosted by Empire VFW Post 375 at 2 p.m.
• White Plains: The Veterans Day Ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in front of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the White Plains Rural Cemetery. Organized by the Mayor’s Veterans Committee, This year will feature a guest speaker, retired City of White Plains Fire Lieutenant Sergeant Major Doug Withus.
• New Rochelle: United Veterans of New Rochelle hold a ceremony at 10:30 am at Memorial Plaza.
• Peekskill: Veterans Day services at 10 am at Memorial Park, intersection of North Division Street and Highland Avenue.
• Rye: Rye American Legion Post 128 will host their ceremony at 10:30 am at Rye City Hall.
• Scarsdale: American Legion Post 52 to hold a service at Boniface Circle. Meet at 10:30 am to march, and a service will follow.
• Sleepy Hollow: There will be a WII Memorial Plaque rededication ceremony at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center from 3to 4 pm.

Here’s where veterans can take advantage of discounts and giveaways for Veterans Day:
• IHOP will be giving away free red, white, and blue pancakes to veterans and active personnel from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
• Starbucks is offering a free tall brewed coffee for veterans and their spouses.
• With a valid I.D. current and former service members can score a free “you pick two” from Panera Bread.
• Olive Garden will offer a free entrée from a special menu to active-duty military and military veterans on Veterans Day. The menu features six of Olive Garden’s most popular items.
• Applebee’s has a “Thank You Meal Menu” for veterans and active duty military members.
• Red Lobster will offer a free appetizer, like sweet chili shrimp or lobster and langostino pizza, or dessert from a select menu with a valid military I.D. on both November 10 and 11.
• Outback Steakhouse is offering a free bloomin’ onion and beverage for active and retired military members with a valid military I.D. at participating restaurants. The “Military Mates” offer means military members and their families can also receive 15 percent off their check.
• Chili’s is offering veterans their choice of a free dinner meal from a special menu of five choices, and is available for not only veterans but also active duty military members.
