One man was shot and another injured while attempting to evade police following a shootout in front of a New Rochelle daycare center Tuesday.
A passenger in a dark SUV opened fire on another SUV it had pulled up next to at about 12:40 Tuesday afternoon, according to The Journal News.
The shootout happened on a street in front of the New Rochelle Day Nursery. The director of the nursery told News 12 Westchester that the shooting occurred during the children’s naptime and none were hurt.
Police told The Journal News that a person came to Mount Vernon Hospital hours later with bullet holes to the left shoulder and arm.
Later that day, the second vehicle police believed to be involved in the shooting was spotted by police. The driver was injured after he attempted to run away from police on foot, according to News 12 Westchester.
Injuries to both involved are non life-threatening.
The shooting is still under investigation and police believe there could still be another suspect on the loose.
