Calling all urban dwellers, there’s a tool that is going to change the way you shop, live, and spend — if your apartment or condo is lucky enough to have it in the building. TULU is a smart rental and shop amenity popping up in apartment buildings around Westchester.
TULU allows for 24/7 access to products you may need but can’t (or don’t want to) store in your own space.
Pricing starts at $2 per 30 minutes depending on your needs. The fourth hour is free, and you only pay when you rent or buy.
To begin, download the app, select the product you need, take it from the TULU unit in your building, and return it when you’re done.
Depending on what your building’s TULU offers, you can rent or buy cleaning products (think vacuum cleaners and robot mops), games (e.g., VR headsets), cooking (air fryers), tech (printers and projectors), and more (snacks, drinks, and toilet paper).
The point is to create less landfill waste, save transportation energy by renting, and not buy new products.
Started in MIT’s DesignX incubator in 2018, TULU was created through a partnership between architect Yishai Lehavi and environmental entrepreneur Yael Shemer fueled by a shared passion for rethinking the way people live. The program includes an app where you can search for products nearby; the point is to create less landfill waste, save transportation energy by renting, and not buy new products — ultimately unlocking more time and space for things that matter the most to you.
You can find TULU in NYC, London, Tel Aviv, and now, Westchester, in New Rochelle (3Thirty3, 3Twenty5, and One Clinton Park) and in White Plains (Hamilton Crossing).
