Waiting in lengthy airport security lines could be a thing of the past, thanks to TSA PreCheck. This August, residents can enroll for TSA PreCheck at the Westchester County Airport during a special pop-up. The convenient traveler program was first introduced back in 2011 to provide low-risk travelers with a painless airport experience.
Westchester County Airport (HPN) will be working with the TSA and security company, IDEMIA, to offer Westchester travelers the opportunity to locally enroll in the PreCheck program. The five-day enrollment period will be from August 5 to August 9, with two time slots between 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Enrollment Center is in the terminal’s third floor observation lounge.
“For the third time, we are excited to bring back this opportunity for local community members to enroll right here in our own centrally-located Westchester County Airport. We know this has been a widely popular pop-up opportunity in the past, and we are thankful to the TSA for their continued collaboration to offer this limited-time event once again,” says Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
Those who acquire TSA PreCheck will save precious traveling time by cutting down on one of the airport’s biggest inconveniences: long security lines. Enrolled travelers don’t have to remove their shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, and light jackets when going through separate TSA lines.
As for what to expect, the in-person enrollment at Westchester County Airport requires that applicants provide proof of identity and citizenship. Enrollment costs $78, and those who are approved will receive a five-year membership with the program.
Travelers should make an appointment and pre-enroll online. After completing the pre-enrollment steps, applicants should select the enrollment site for “White Plains, N.Y.” and select “Pop-up: HPN.” The drop-down menu will provide available time slots. Payment is due at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check.
Approved TSA applicants will receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) roughly 10 days following the enrollment.
