Tray Chic

We think—no, we know—that we have indeed seen a serving piece as lovely as a tree. And no wonder, as each of these simply gorgeous cheese and serving trays and carving boards started their lives as part of an actual Makha tree. This magnificent species, with a lifespan of up to 300 years, can grow to 100 feet in height and more than four feet in diameter.

But rest assured that none of these highly prized hardwood trees—known as one of the hardest of all species of trees—were harmed or lost their lives prematurely to fashion this handsome collection. Committed to employing eco-friendly practices and environmentally sustainable materials, Vagabond House uses only naturally fallen trees or reclaimed wood from trees cut more than 30 years ago.

Featuring lushly detailed pewter handles and adornments depicting such natural elements as branches, leaves, pears, olives, fish, bees, and flowers, the line retails from $187 to $350 and is available locally at Small Joys in Bedford and at Wish in Rye.
