Travel Back to 1969 at Woodstock's Retro-Chic Hotel Dylan

Each of the 22 rooms is named for a rock & roll legend (The Jimi, The Deadhead, The Joplin).

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, and renewed interest in the legendary musical festival is permeating the Hudson Valley. While the iconic multiday fest was actually held 43 miles south of Woodstock, in Bethel, the namesake town offers all the memorabilia and mementos to transport you back to 1969.

Case in point: Hotel Dylan, where the vibe is purposefully retro, but with a modern twist on the era’s bohemian style — situated at a prime location right off Route 28. Each of the 22 rooms is named for a rock & roll legend (The Jimi, The Deadhead, The Joplin) and is decorated with bold colors and fun patterns, with beds made from recycled wood or iron.

The atmosphere is laid-back: Play a hotel-provided boardgame or some vinyl in your room, chill on the front lawn in the hammock, or cozy up to the firepits. (Don’t be surprised if the front desk leaves graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate on your door for s’mores.) If you’re feeling a little more active, check out the outdoor, heated, saltwater pool or break out your yoga mat for a complimentary Saturday morning session.

An on-site Mexican restaurant, Sante Fe Woodstock, means if you don’t want to head into town, you don’t have to. After all, “Peace Love Stay,” is the hotel’s slogan.
