Why We Love It
First of all, there’s that view. Perched on high ground overlooking the Hudson River, the sweeping views are visible from pretty much every space, including the manicured lawn, arbor-framed patio, and circa-1760 mansion. Outdoor weddings take advantage of the lush scenery; the permanent tent, with space for up to 360 guests, is one of the area’s nicest. Since last year, top local caterer Good-Life Gourmet has been exclusively in-house at Monteverde, offering dining options that range from fun and casual (lobster grilled cheese, sweet-tea-brined fried chicken, miniature milkshakes) to elegant and elevated (tuna sashimi with citrus dashi, apple-brined pork chops, rustic berry galette).

What it Costs: $36,000
Cost is calculated assuming a peak season (April to October) Saturday night with a 125-person guest list. The price includes a six-hour rental of the venue, catering, onsite coordinator, use of the bridal lounge, valet parking, and most rentals (linens are not included). A 20 percent service fee and 7.375 percent Westchester sales tax are also included in the cost.
The Space
The current owners have lovingly restored the historic mansion, but most couples opt to tie the knot outdoors. Ceremonies take place on the Grand Lawn, while cocktail hour is held on the outdoor stone patio and terrace. Receptions are held in the tented pavilion, just a short walk from the Great Lawn, during peak season. From March to November, weddings are held in the mansion, which can accommodate up to 100 guests. A bridal lounge is available for couples before the ceremony, and there are multiple after-party spaces, which can be booked at an additional cost.
Getting and Staying Here
The Peekskill Metro-North station is just a five-minute cab ride from Cortlandt Manor, and Monteverde boasts ample onsite parking. The newlyweds and their families may want to spend the night in one of the seven guests rooms (from $225/night) or two suites (starting at $500/night) on the property.
When to Book
For couples with a specific date in mind, it’s advisable to book 18 months in advance.
