Learn the basics of creating a business plan at the upcoming “A Winning Business Plan,” workshop sponsored by the SCORE of Westchester. Biz Council Panel: Economic Development
A new event from The Business Council of Westchester (BCW) will feature Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino leading a discussion on the county’s economic future with leading real estate, government, and business leaders. Entitled “Navigating Westchester: Threading the Needle for Economic Growth,” the event includes a power panel of the region’s thought leaders and decision makers who will discuss the ins and outs of growing Westchester’s economy and making smart and transformative changes to its downtowns, main streets, and urban centers. The event will be held from 8 to 9:30 am on April 28 at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown. Part of The BCW’s ongoing KeyBank Speaker Series, this breakfast event also features Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont, and Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, who will offer unique perspectives on economic development in their respective communities. They will be joined by: William Mooney III, director of Westchester’s Office of Economic Development; Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of The Business Council of Westchester; Robert Weisz, chairman and chief executive officer of RPW Group; and Tim Jones, partner and managing member of Robert Martin Company. Geoff Thompson, managing partner of Thompson & Bender, will moderate the panel discussion.

Power Up Your Marketing
There’s a new networking breakfast in town—from The Allied Professionals of the FPA Greater Hudson Valley Chapter, the Westchester Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs, and the Westchester County Bar Association—designed to develop collaborative business connections for members. Its first breakfast forum, which will take place on April 28 from 7:30 to 9:30 am at Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook, features an address from Stacey Cohen, president and CEO of Co-Communications, a full-service public relations and marketing firm with offices in Farmington, CT, Westchester, and midtown Manhattan. Cohen’s keynote, “Power Up Your Marketing: Cutting Through the Clutter,” will kick off a morning of conversation around actionable strategies and tactics for tackling PR and marketing. The presentation will highlight compliance issues in speaking with the media as well as more holistic approaches to PR and marketing. Some key takeaways will include: defining a cohesive brand, knowing one’s competition and clients, and the benefits of creating effective content and communications.
