This Online Cosmetics Line is Named After Greenburgh Streets

These entrepreneurs are staying true to their Westchester roots.

First cousins Tara and Shenikqua Poinsette were on a trip to South Beach when they came up with the idea to start an online cosmetics business. True to their Westchester roots, the women named it after the streets on which they grew up: Maple Street and Beech Street in Greenburgh. Tara had spent more than 15 years in product development and merchandising for large retailers, including Macy’s and The Limited. Shenikqua was a model who learned about beauty products from professionals. “It was a no-brainer to combine Shenikqua’s passion for the makeup business and my knowledge of the retail space to launch Maple & Beech,” says Tara. The two Westchester residents self-fund the company, whose products include well-priced lip colors (Matte Lip Paint, Satin Lip Glaze, Glossie, Lip Creme); cheek colors; and shadows and liners for $6 to $20. All can be purchased exclusively at www.maplebeech.com.
