This Month's Beauty Tips and Trends

Concealer, brows, and foot reflexology.

Glossier’s Concealed Weapon

Ever notice how most concealers don’t cover your trouble spots but actually draw more attention to them? Trendy beauty website Into the Gloss has created its own line of products — and who better to come up with solutions than a bunch of beauty experts? Glossier’s buildable Stretch Concealer ($18), made with emollients like beeswax and jojoba oil, is an “elastic” solution to the problem of cakey concealers. It contains adaptable mineral pigments that work with a wide range of skin tones, too.

Is microblading right for you?

If you’re even remotely into beauty trends, you know that brows are big (both literally and figuratively) right now. There are brow pencils, pomades, powders, pens, gels, brushes — even brow salons and dedicated eyebrow “bars.”

The latest trend in brows is microblading, a permanent makeup technique similar to tattooing. According to microblading expert Jill K. Imbrogno, founder and owner of the award-winning JKFlashy Makeup Service, the procedure involves “feathering or etching hair-like strokes to camouflage missing eyebrow hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.” After the area is numbed, pigments are manually deposited with groupings of ultra-fine needles, resulting in defined but natural-looking brows. The procedure can take up to three hours, including consultation and design, and results last up to 18 months, though a touch-up may be necessary to maintain the look. The cost ranges from $650 to $1,200, including one touch-up a month or so after the initial treatment. For more info, visit www.jkflashy.com.
