Getting married on a major holiday can be a risky proposition. Sure, you may already have the next day off to recover, but asking guests to skip out on annual family celebrations, or to pay a premium for airfare and accommodations, isn’t always the best way to get that affirmative RSVP. And yet, if your family and friends are excited about the proposition, a holiday wedding can be the most glamorous and memorable way to celebrate your nuptials. That’s how things went down for Daniel and Allie, who tied the knot on New Year’s Eve with a sparkling, black-tie celebration at The Roundhouse in Beacon.
It wasn’t an intentional choice. The couple, who met at a mutual friend’s wedding, couldn’t find preferred available dates at any of the venues they’d visited, including Roundhouse. “One of our friends had recently told us that he’d had a great time at a New Year’s Eve wedding,” recalls Daniel. “We inquired [about New Year’s Eve], and it worked out. So, we jumped at it.”
Once the date was set, Daniel and Allie started planning, keeping the holiday in mind. “For the vibe, we wanted to embrace the New Year’s Eve aspect,” says Daniel. Guests dressed in black tie, the bridal party wore mix of metallic hues, and splashes of gold, from the seating cards to the tablecloths, created an upscale festive vibe. “We had a projection of the ball drop in Times Square with a countdown,” says Daniel. “We had the wedding last until 1 a.m., and the band played fun/high-energy music leading up to [midnight] and through the rest of the night.” As the New Year rang in, guests took a quick break from the dancefloor, lit with strands of lights, to celebrate the occasion with (what else?) a Champagne toast.
