This Compassionate Eighth Grader is Taking a Stand Against Cancer

Mazel tov! to incoming Seven Bridges Middle School eighth grader Ben Goldenberg, who recently staged a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Chappaqua’s Horace Greeley High School to raise awareness and funds for Northern Westchester Hospital’s Bruce and Andrea Yablon Cancer Health and Wellness Program and the Breast Health Initiative for Underserved Women. “Ben’s March Madness Basketball Tournament” — which was open to boys and girls in the fifth through eighth grades — raised $18,000, through synagogue Bet Torah’s bar mitzvah project. Ben says the tournament’s inspiration is his mother, Brandi, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer.
