Orangetheory (above) was one of the first of the new wave of fitness chains that recently hit Westchester, opening up a few years ago at a central spot on White Plains’ Mamaroneck Ave. This popular workout utilizes both cardio and light strength training, as well as a heart monitor to make sure each user is getting the most fat-burning potential out of their sweat sessions, by remaining in what Orangetheory calls the “orange zone.”
While yoga is nothing new, Rebel Yoga’s (above) take on the ancient practice is certainly something to crow about. The stylishly designed Thornwood studio offers hot and non-hot classes with a more approachable and modernized take on the popular methodology. Finally, Chappaqua Crossings, located at the former Reader’s Digest headquarters, is set to become home to Westchester’s second location of the ultra-luxe gym chain Life Time Inc. This location (slated to open in early January at press time) will feature a luxury-spa experience, kids’ academy, cafe, cycling and Pilates studios, as well as a host of other fab features. Meanwhile, you can stop by the Harrison location of Life Time for more than 200,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, and sleek machines.
