We sat down with Rye resident Jean Vouté Pratt, founder of the fashion blog The Style Observer and owner of giftgirl.com, a website that offers men gift ideas for the women in their lives, to chat about her blog.
Q: What made you want to start a fashion blog in the first place? The blog really sprung from my flagship site, giftgirl.com. Though designed for men, women liked the site, especially the guidance it gives on fashion and style —what to wear with what, that kind of thing.
Q: How would you describe your own personal style? I’m a chameleon. Sometimes I’m bohemian, sometimes I like to dress up, sometimes I’m in yoga clothes.
Q: Your current favorite trend? I love the bohemian look—the tunic with the leather belt and big, wooden bangles.
Q: What fashion blogs do you read? My favorite is Fashion Toast, but I also read Fashionology, Omiru, and Style Bubble.
Q: What are your favorite Westchtester shops? I love Outerluxe in Larchmont, Plaza Too, Petticoat Lane, and Lola in Rye.
Q: How many shoes are in your closet now? Handbags? I have about one-hunrded pairs of shoes and about sixty handbags.
Q: The most priceless fashion item you own? My Chanel motorcycle boots. I’ve had them for over ten years and they always look great. After that season, they didn’t make another pair like them.
