The Rockefeller Estate Is On The Market, and It's Worth $22 Million

Hudson Pines, David Rockefeller’s breathtaking Westchester compound is officially on the market.

Westchester real estate brokerage Houlihan Lawrence has secured the exclusive listing for Hudson Pines, the Mount Pleasant home of financier and philanthropist David Rockefeller.

Rockefeller, grandson of original billionaire and noted philanthropist J.D. Rockefeller, passed away in March at the age of 101. A cosigner of The Giving Pledge, Rockefeller had agreed to donate the majority of his $3.2 billion fortune to various charities, and his former property holdings have been slowly selling off in the ensuing months.

Hudson Pines was originally designed in 1938 for Rockefeller’s sister Abbey, by famed architect Mott B. Schmidt, before David and his wife Peggy took up residence and renovated the estate.

The main house spans three floors and over 11,000 sq ft of living space, including a floating staircase, a master wing, eight additional bedrooms and baths, and private terraces overlooking scenic vistas of the gardens, three greenhouses, apple orchard, and neighboring Rockefeller State Park. The basement also holds offices, hobby rooms, and a wine vault you will definitely want to raid before taking a dip in the property’s massive heated pool.

Other structures on the property include a playhouse, a three-bedroom gate house, a carriage house, a six-stall barn (to keep the horses who pull your carriages), and a private helipad (for when the horses get tired).

“Hudson Pines represents the connection and collaboration between two icons, Mr. Rockefeller and Mr. Schmidt, which makes this such a special property,”  said Houlihan Lawrence listing agent David Turner. “We consider it a privilege to represent Mr. Rockefeller’s estate in the sale of this iconic property.”
