Bridal-gown looks change constantly, but some classic looks are timeless. The same goes for bridal shoes. We asked Erica Pitt of Mount Kisco bridal shop Be Unique Boutique to walk us through the hottest wedding-shoe trends in Westchester.
1. Vibrant Platforms
What’s the best way to add some pep to your wedding-style step this season? Color is big this season, and, according to Pitt, many fashionable brides are straying away from plain muted tones for their footwear. “A lot of brides are choosing shoes that are a different color shoes from their dress,” says Pitt. “Brides are starting to go for bright colors like red and blue, instead of typical white shoes.”
2. Winsome Wedges
Satin wedges are very much in vogue (again), not just because they’re super-stylish, but because they’re ultra-comfy as well. “Three- to four-inch wedges are very popular,” says Pitt. “They are a great height and provide comfort, especially for outdoor weddings, since they help brides avoid sinking into the grass.” Never cool.
3. Beautiful Brooches
For brides who want something subtle, but also want a sparkly touch, shoes with bedazzling brooches are becoming very popular. Whether beautifully pinned pearls, or a badge of diamonds, a brooch is the perfect shoe statement piece. “A brooch in the front gives a little pop down the aisle,” says Pitt. “But, you need a bit of coordination with the dress to pull it off. It works best with flowy dresses, rather than stiff ones.”
4. Strappy Sandals
Strappy sandals are always lovely—especially for brides with pretty, well-manicured feet. “These are especially popular during the summertime when it’s nice and hot,” says Pitt. For many, “they’re the most comfortable shoe choice, and brides prefer them to closed-toe shoes.”
5. Sexy Sparkles
From rhinestone-covered platforms to bejeweled pumps to bedazzled booties, sparkles enhance most bridal looks. Glittery shoes, done right, can add just the right accent to an understated gown, but also pair perfectly with more elaborate, blinged-out dresses. Pitt is definitely a fan. “A lot of sparkles!” she advises. “Even if the dress is plain, sparkly shoes are a perfect way to dress up a look.”
