Those who were as disappointed as we were when Keenan House closed abruptly in January need not worry any longer.
The restaurant/bar in Ossining reopened on Tuesday, with new owners, a new look, and, most importantly, a few new additions to the menu.
“We’re looking forward to being part of the community again. We want to be a bigger force than we were,” said Assistant Manager William Bird.
New owners Ali Sahin and Erdal Nehir, both with Turkish backgrounds, have added a New Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flair to the existing menu. They’ve also added some more color to the décor, joining up with the Ossining Arts Council to feature artwork by local artists. The exhibit will be rotating that artwork bimonthly.
But those who loved Keenan House before the closure can also expect more of the same. Aside from its new Mediterranean additions, the menu will still feature all of the old customers favorites. Even how you receive those favorites will be more of the same.
Nehir and Sahin, who was headwaiter for the six months prior to closing, brought back many of Keenan’s past employees.
“The [previous] owners listed personal reasons for closing,” said Bird, but “the people that worked here before really cared about this place.”
