On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, the best happy hour in Westchester isn’t at some trendy, raucous cocktail spot, it’s at the quiet bar at Le Sirene in Larchmont. A white-tablecloth restaurant might not seem like an obvious choice for happy hour, but stick with us on this one. Starting at 5 p.m. the restaurant rolls out its own version of an aperitivo, Italy’s answer to after-work drinks, which is always accompanied by free food.
Cocktails (embrace Italian vibes with a classic Negroni) and by-the-glass wines (Prosecco, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano, among others) are priced at $7.50. While beers, including several hard-to-find-in-Westchester Italian craft bottles are only $3.75. What makes the deal so remarkable is the food that comes with it. It starts with little bowls of olives and glasses of the highly addictive, rosemary-flecked breadsticks, made in-house. Then comes a slice of calzone, delicately layered with prosciutto, zucchini, and melted cheese. There might also be piping hot, truffle-scented rice balls, or Margherita pizza, fresh from the bar area’s searing hot oven.
Still hungry after all those snacks? Consider sticking around for dinner: The three-course prix-fixe menu — seriously, get the bomboloni for dessert — is a total steal at $34.95.
