The holidays need a little glitz and glamour whether it’s lights, tinsel, or a great sequin pencil skirt. But should your holiday sparkle be in your Champagne flute? AleXander Sparkling (www.alexandersparkling.com) thinks so. A new company launched in January by Alessandro Crocco of La Bocca in White Plains, its gold-flake sparkling wine’s got festive holiday cocktail written all over it. “We expect it to do very well with the holidays approaching,” says Crocco. “Up until now, there was nothing like it on the market in the United States.”
A blend of primarily Grüner Veltliner grown in Austria, each bottle shimmers with flecks of FDA-approved, edible 23K gold (the body can’t digest gold). So far, AX Sparkling has received rave reviews from customers at Westchester Wine Warehouse in White Plains, where it’s currently sold for $29.99. “When people hear there is gold in it, your event becomes more prestigious,” says Crocco. Cheers to that.
