Courtney and Brendan take a walk on a beautiful day |
Some say that love at first sight only happens in movies. However, the instant connection that occurred between these newlyweds suggests otherwise.
After moving to the Big Apple, the last thing on Courtney’s mind was leaving her new apartment and heading to Rockaway for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Lucky for Brendan, her roommate’s boyfriend convinced them to take the trip. Right then and there, Brendan charmed Courtney and their romance began.
Three and a half years of dating went by before Brendan found the courage to ask for Courtney’s hand. On the day before Christmas Eve in 2008, Brendan took her to the restaurant Harvest on Hudson, in Hastings-on-Hudson. He wanted her to experience the beautiful view of the Hudson River, which can be seen from the restaurant’s outdoor garden, which was decorated with white Christmas lights. This romantic setting was the perfect opportunity for Brendan to get down on one knee.
Courtney accepted and, from there, the couple went into a wedding-planning frenzy. They immediately knew that the wedding would take place in Westchester, since they planned to live here.

The bridal bouquet from Petals by Alice |
The bridal party dressed for the wedding at the Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown, before heading to the Church of the Magdalene in nearby Sleepy Hollow for a chic black-and-white ceremony. Festivities continued at the Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt Manor for some fantastic food and dancing.
To start, guests dined on a wild-mushroom risotto, followed by a choice of filet mignon in a merlot sauce, Tuscan chicken rollatini with white-truffle tomato sauce, or grilled Atlantic swordfish in a lemon vinaigrette. The couple’s elegant red velvet cake and candy table provided sweetness to the end of the meal.
Courtney walked down the isle in an angelic ivory gown by Monique Lhuillier, and dazzling René Caovilla shoes. Her hair and makeup, arranged by Kerry-Lou Brehm, completed her ensemble.
At the beginning of the following week, the couple honeymooned in Hawaii. During their 10-day trip, they visited beautiful Kauai, Maui, and Oahu.
Both Brendan and Courtney felt their wedding was incredibly magical—and they did not need a horse-drawn carriage or a fairy godmother to make it happen.
