Lefteris Gyro—Inexpensive, big-portioned, and, most important, generally delicious Greek fare served on blue-and-white checkered tablecloths. Order the tzatziki, gigandes (giant beans in tomato sauce), and house-made Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. And oh, that salad dressing!
Coffee Labs Roasters—Owners Mike and Alicia Love have made this small-batch artisan roaster into a true community hub. And kudos for doing their part to be green business owners including using 100-percent-compostable cups and 100-percent-renewable energy (65 percent low-impact hydro electric and 35 percent wind power).
Rock Island Sound—This all-things-music shop is especially for those who worship Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page—guitar is a specialty here.
The Tarrytown Music Hall—This 843-seat Queen Anne-style theater is one of only 6 percent of all US theaters built before 1900. In 1976, the village proposed the structure be demolished to make room for a parking lot, but it was saved by the nonprofit The Friends of the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory and placed on the National Register for Historic Places in 1980. The eclectic lineup of performers and speakers that have graced its stage include Mae West, Woodrow Wilson, Gregg Allman, and Joan Rivers.
Chiboust Bistro—Exposed-brick walls, mirrors, and candles make this restaurant serving inventive cocktails, craft pizzas, gourmet tavern fare, and ambitious mains a fitting choice for those in search of a romantic dinner before or after the theater.
Mint Premium Foods—If you haven’t been to this part international gourmet foods bazaar, part eclectic-menu restaurant, you’re missing out on a requisite county foodie experience.
