Aqueduct in Croton, or Labraduct, as we say in town. It’s famous for dog walking — you can go for miles.
Black Cow Coffee Company. My favorite local hang and the best latte ever.
Clearwater Festival. I’m usually busy selling ice cream, but the vibe and music there are unbeatable.

Dam, as in the Croton Dam. It’s an amazing hand-hewn stone structure and a great place to check out after a rainstorm. The waterfall is incredible!

Environmental stewardship. My passion (next to ice cream).
Family and friends. Hanging out with them makes all the hard work seem worth it.
Green Business Certified of Westchester County. There are only about [22] businesses in the county that are certified “green.” (The Blue Pig was number 2!) I encourage all businesses to get involved in this program. It’s the right thing to do.
Hemlock Hill Farm in Cortlandt. Locally raised meats and veggies with a great CSA. The farmland is protected under an easement in perpetuity so that we can preserve our local lands.
Ice cream, of course.
John Bernard, a local apiarist. He advises us on our beekeeping at home.
Kayaking on the Croton River. I like to go before sunset; the light is amazing.
Landing, or the Croton Landing Park, a fantastic passive park on the Hudson. My daughter and I love to set up chairs, bring snacks and just read while overlooking the water. It’s our guilty pleasure.
Muffins at Baked by Susan. My favorite is blueberry.
New Castle. The town passed a Reusable Bag Initiative in January. Way to go!
Ossining Farmers’ Market. One of my Saturday morning stops. I am partial to the mushrooms at Do Re Me Farms.
Pleasantville. Home to the Jacob Burns Film Center. I’m an indie-film lover, so this is the only film venue I go to.
Quirk Shop in Peekskill. Handmade clothes and unique gifts. I get compliments every time I wear one of Georgia’s creations.
RameNesque Japanese Ramen. I always get the Thai noodle bowl, and I love it every time.
Salted Caramel from The Blue Pig. Ours is homemade and way good.
Teatown Lake Reservation — a favorite hiking and birding spot for my boyfriend and I. Our dog, Girl, loves it, too.
Umami Café. A go-to spot in Croton. I love the Evil Jungle Prince curry with brown rice.
Vegetables. I try to grow them everywhere: our home garden, the roof of the store, the pots and hanging baskets out front of our shop…
WESPAC. A longtime social-justice organization I support that is based in White Plains.
Xaviars. I had my wedding at Xaviars at Garrison, Chef Peter Kelly’s first restaurant [now closed]. The marriage didn’t last, but the food memories did!
Yonkers Public Library. I went there for a workshop recently and was blown away by how gorgeous it is. It’s near the waterfront, with tons of huge windows and great light.
Zephs’ Restaurant in Peekskill. Quiet and understated — it’s the perfect respite after a long week on my feet.
