The 4 Best Brunches Peekskill Has to Offer

The only ways to do your late breakfast the right way.

Birdsall House
970 Main St, Peekskill
(914) 930-1880
Saturday & Sunday 11 am – 3 pm

If you go to Birdsall for Sunday brunch, which you absolutely should, opt for the $19 special, which buys a drink (your choice of Mimosa, Bloody Mary, or any beer on tap), a starter like house-made pork sausage or whipped goat cheese on crostini, and an entrée.  The buttermilk biscuit benedict is a favorite, along with the buttermilk pancake breakfast: pear compote-stuffed cakes served with sunny-side eggs, bacon, and house-made bourbon-maple syrup. Saturday brunch is à la carte but no less tempting, with items like corned beef hash, brioche French toast, and an omelet-of-the-week.

12 Grapes
12 N Division St, Peekskill
(914) 737-6624
Sunday, 11:30 am – 3 pm

Glance up from your plate and you might well forget 12 Grapes is in Peekskill—this local favorite is designed to evoke the feel of SoHo, and does so with a brick-infused interior and plenty of live music. On Sundays, you’ll find all the usual brunch items— like omelets, eggs benedict, steak & eggs, and pancakes—plus an “additional fare” menu section with flatbread pizza and a hummus-filled pita sandwich, among others.

Peekskill Brewery
47-53 South Water St, Peekskill
(914) 734-2337
Sunday 12 – 4 pm

The Brewery’s brunch is a departure from the standard weekend-breakfast menu you’d normally see. The “PB breakfast,” for example, is a $24 lesson in off-the-beaten-path, gourmet gastro-pub fare: bacon, chorizo, spicy baked beans, roasted mushroom, braised collard greens, and an over-easy egg. There are more traditional options, such as layered brioche French toast and ricotta pancakes, but who needs ‘em when there’s a fried chicken and waffle sandwich begging to be tried?

Yellow Brick Cafe
51 Hudson Ave, Peekskill
(914) 737-3236
Saturday & Sunday, 6 am – 3 pm

Yellow Brick’s charm alone could win it a spot on this list, and surely that has something to do with the popularity of this relatively new (less than a year old) spot. Situated on the corner of Hudson and Railroad Avenues, it beckons from the Peekskill train station across the way. Inside, you’ll find a brunch that is decidedly more, well, standard breakfast fare than anything fancy, though that’s not criticism—the crème brûlée French toast is delicious, and the “all Ireland breakfast” will leave you feeling full until dinner.
