A Westchester-based law firm is beginning a program aimed at helping individuals and businesses financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this time, many individuals and business owners are in serious need of professional guidance and assistance with their finances, budgeting, and debt. In response, Tayne Law Group, P.C., a debt relief law firm in White Plains and Mount Kisco, is offering free consultations, as well as expanded counsel availability, including evening and weekend appointments.
“In addition to the horrific health impacts of the coronavirus, we’ve seen unprecedented financial fallout as well,” says Leslie Tayne, the firm’s owner. “With so many individuals suddenly facing unemployment and so many businesses having to close or reduce operations, the economic repercussions of this virus are reaching far and wide.”
Here are some of the areas the firm will be helping individuals and business owners with during COVID-19:
Assessing budgets
The most important first step in determining how to manage finances during this unprecedented time is to review your budget, Tayne says. Consider what expenses can be reduced at this time and how your household or business can operate as leanly as possible.
Understanding resources
The federal government passed The CARES Act, which provides stimulus funds to individuals and families as well as offering loans to small businesses. However, as of April 16, the Small Business Administration had run out of funds to provide these loans. Staying up-to-date on the resources that are available and taking advantage of what is being offered is beneficial for finding more financial relief, she advises.
Getting help from creditors
Many creditors and lenders are offering assistance and leniency to their customers at this time. Tayne suggests reaching out to creditors to explain your situation and inquire about what options they have available.
“If you or your business are financially struggling as a result of COVID-19, you’re definitely not alone,” says Tayne.
Tayne Law Group is also providing free COVID-19 financial resources on their website.
