Spa Mantra The word Epidavros refers to an ancient Greek healing sanctuary, and Epidavros Spa owner Nadina Pitaro is dedicated to making sure that name fits.
Aura Looking at the stark exterior of the office complex in which it resides, it’s hard to believe that such an inviting day spa awaits inside. Recently renovated, Epidavros is large (seven treatment rooms, a changing area, a pre-massage sauna, and pre/post-treatment lounge with teas, water, and snacks) and decorated in calming beige tones that instantly seem to lower blood pressure.
Tech Check Epidavros employs a Hydra-Facial machine that performs microdermabrasion without harsh, mechanical exfoliators. Water and powerful serums are used instead to remove dead cells and rehydrate skin.
About Face “Every facial is customized to the client,” says Pitaro, but all are intended to soothe and pamper. Happily, most facials feature soothing massage to the neck, shoulders, and arms, and add-ons such as a hot-stone foot massage. Those who fear the (much) less relaxing extraction-oriented approach, take note.
The Rub The massage menu here is extensive. “Stress is about feeling out of control,” says Pitaro, and “by relieving the stress within muscles, you can re-enter the world with a new perspective.” The 30-minute neck-back-shoulder massage certainly delivers as promised.
