If you’ve ever wandered the shoreline collecting pebbles, you’re in luck. A similar fascination got Michael Zimber, founder and owner of Stone Forest, designers and manufacturers of carved functional sculpture for the home and garden, to thinking. “What if pebbles got really big?” The delightful answer is his company’s new Pebble Collection—oversized, pebble-shaped fountains, seating, and sinks hand-carved from a selection of exotic stones. These are not hide-a-key-type faux “rocks”—a single fountain can weigh as much as 3,500 pounds. Fountains are $375 to $395 (24 inches high), $1,975 to $3,800 (48 inches), and $4,200 to $4,500 (60 inches); an outdoor seat with iron stand is $595; a large decorative boulder is $395; and an indoor vessel or sink is $680. The vessels may be purchased (by special order) at Klaff’s in Scarsdale (914-740-1800) or Best Plumbing Tile & Stone, also in Scarsdale (914-723-2002). For all other items, contact Stone Forest at (888) 682-2987 or stoneforest.com.
