Dress socks really haven’t changed much over the last century. The ones your father wore to work are probably quite similar to what you slip on each day. But one Westchester company has set out to change that, by launching what it calls a “performance dress sock”—a more comfortable and stylish alternative to the traditional garment. Balitello, launched in 2015 by Scarsdale and Eastchester natives Robert Baldino and Mickey Abbatiello, designs chic socks tricked out with extra padding on the heel and toe, arch support, breathable microfiber material, and non-fading color.
“Our socks are the next level in terms of comfort and design,” says Baldino. “Coming from athletic backgrounds, we wore Nike Elite socks. So we thought, let’s combine them with dress socks and bring that on-field comfort to the corporate boardroom,” adds Abbatiello.
To buy: Balitello’s socks are sold in a sock-of-the-month-club format. For $15, customers can receive one pair of socks per month or opt for three- or six-month packages for $13.50 or $12 per month, respectively; www.balitello.com.
