Put on your jeans, sling your golf cap’s bill to the back, and crank up the music—it’s tee time at the new Tom Fazio course at Silo Ridge Field Club in Dutchess County. You need to be a member (and a property owner) or a guest to play, but once you pass that little barrier, says head pro Brian Crowell, “You’ll find a club experience unlike any you’ve ever encountered in Westchester or the Hudson Valley.”
Silo Ridge Field Club sprawls across 1200 acres of farmland (and a long-closed golf course) in the horse country along route 22 in Amenia, NY. The community planned for the site will have 245 homes along with the aforementioned golf course, equestrian and shooting activities, and food and dining facilities steeped in the Hudson River Valley’s farm-to-table culinary roots.
Two events showcased the development this year. The first was a gathering of PGA pros and other dignitaries in July that coincided with the PGA Championship at Baltusrol. There to sample the treats in the two on-course comfort stations and stretch their games on the new golf course were Matt Kuchar and Andrew “Beef” Johnston along with actor Michael Douglas and former NY Ranger star Mark Messier.
In October, the party theme was “Rockin’ the Ridge” and guests enjoyed a day of fall family fun that included pumpkin carving, hayrides, mini golf, a petting zoo, flag football, archery, and music from three separate bands headlined by Kelley James. Guests from points south were invited to arrive via private rail car that originated in Grand Central and made stops in North White Plains and Bedford Hills—an amenity that will operate regularly once the development’s residents move in.
Discovery Land Company’s 18 other world-class developments include the Yellowstone Club, Cordevalle Golf Club & Lodge, and Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club in the Bahamas.
