If you (like me) regret missing the county’s first Big Brew NY festival in February—which showcased more than 250 craft beers from around the world—now’s your chance to catch the fall edition, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains on September 20 from 5 to 9 pm. General admission buys unlimited tastings with a handy 4-oz souvenir glass (you get to keep it, people), to the backdrop of live music and entertainment, and you can purchase food, including Wisconsin-style fried cheese curds from Philly’s award-winning food truck The Cow and the Curd (it might be worth going just to finally taste the darn things).
Half Time of Mamaroneck, the world’s largest beer store, will be giving away more than $30,000 of beer and beer-related merchandise. But VIP ticket holders, which you want to be, get in an hour earlier, quaff 25 VIP-only brews, and get to try beer-infused hors d’oeuvres made by Arlen Gargagliano of Mambo 64 with beer from Broken Bow Brewery (i.e., pernil with Broken Auger Lager drizzle, Broken Bow Marbledale American Pale Ale roasted corn and jalapeño salsita, and brownies with Broken Bow Broken Coffee Stout Drizzle).
