Well, fellow consumers, it’s “Black Friday in July” again. As of 3 p.m. today Amazon’s annual Prime Day has once again consumed our lives, along with associated sales at competing websites and big-box stores. If, however, you prefer to keep your purchases within your community (but you do truly love a good sale), consider spending your dollars this week at the annual Chappaqua Summer Sidewalk Sale.
The three-day sale starts Thursday, July 19 and runs through Saturday, July 21. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, local vendors will be offering steep discounts on everything from clothing and accessories to high-end art and jewelry.
“The Sidewalk Sale is a great chance for women to come in and accessorize their current wardrobes with beautiful, unique jewelry at incredible prices,” says Tara Mikolay, co-founder of Desires by Mikolay, luxury jewelry store and a sponsor of this year’s Sidewalk Sale. Other local participants will include apparel shops like Family Britches, Great Stuff, Eye Gallery, Petticoat Lane, and Squires, as well as art and gift shops like Breeze, The King’s Scribe, and more, all offering sales from 10-90% off select merchandise.
Turning the event into a full summer event, local restaurants will be serving food all day, accompanied by music and plenty of children’s activities. Also make sure to look for special deals at certain retailers: Desires, for example, will be holding two special “preview days” beginning on July 17, and offering a pair of its bestselling summer earrings to the first 100 customers who spend at least $100 as a sort of doorbuster sale Thursday. (You can also enter their raffle to win a $1,000 handcrafted pair!)
