Everyone loves seeing their locality represented on television. It’s why we’ve all scrolled down our town, county, and state’s Wiki pages for insight into instances when fame passed through. And as we reported a few weeks ago, Jerry Seinfeld recently made yet another detour through Westchester while filming season eight of Crackle’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. This time, he shot some car-porn footage of himself and a vintage Triumph on the grounds of Rye’s historic Wainwright House, a visit that prompted venue staff to tell us at the time that while the comedy icon was in a rush, he was mensch enough to stop in and exchange pleasantries.
Of course, the burning question was when the episode in question—which was set to feature Last Week Tonight host John Oliver as his guest—would start streaming, so that we can all tune in and text our friends, “Hey! That ornate place where Jerry stood and gawked at a classic auto worth more than our life savings? It’s about 10 minutes from my house. I’ve never been there, but it still fills me with pride.” Now, we have an answer, as Crackle has declared season eight will premiere June 16, airing every subsequent Thursday. A network rep couldn’t comment on when the Oliver installment specifically would descend, but given that there’s only six episodes, keep your calendar marked for either late June or early/mid July. Or don’t. Either way, Jerry comes out even-Steven.
