The next time you are shopping for Christmas presents at The Westchester in White Plains, the food court will look dramatically different. Gone will be the typical mall dining options of pizza/Chinese/sandwich/yogurt shops; in its place will be Savor Westchester, which parent company Simon is billing as “a fresh and contemporary dining and event destination which will feature seven different, enticing dining options.”
The multi-million dollar transformation (construction has already begun and is slated for completion at Holiday 2016) will yield seven new eateries, which have not yet been identified, but are characterized by Simon as “some of Manhattan’s most popular and notable casual dining hot spots.” Savor Westchester will also include a brand-new outdoor al fresco dining terrace, as well as a children’s play area, demonstration kitchen, an entertainment and technology lounge, and Concierge Services adjacent to the dining.
“We are looking forward to introducing Savor Westchester to shoppers at The Westchester and creating a dining destination that will please even the most discriminating palates,” says Meghann Martindale, Simon’s leasing executive for The Westchester, who notes that the overall space has been carefully curated to provide “an exceptional dining and social experience.”
“Plans for this area have been developed with a sense of community and our guests’ comfort and convenience in mind, providing an inviting atmosphere to enjoy a meal and socialize, indoors or out,” Martindale adds. “We are excited to share details of our vision and who is coming in the near future.”
The new, souped-up food court is just one part of a major transformation currently taking place at The Westchester, which involves a wide array of work, including: modernized elevators and lobbies, new and improved interior and exterior signage, new flooring featuring natural stone tile and carpeting, updates of exterior vehicular entry facades and key mall entrances, and upgraded men’s and women’s restroom facilities, as well as numerous cosmetic improvements such as new and improved seating areas, and fresh landscaping.
“The transformation of Savor Westchester will complement the enhancements we’re making throughout the property to meet the high expectations of our guests,” adds Martindale. “A majority of the work will be performed to minimize interference or customer inconvenience during the mall’s regular operating hours.”
