Savor Rye’s Restaurant Crawl, One Bite at a Time

A walkable tasting tour of the city benefits victims of domestic violence.

A decade or two ago, an event focused around dining and restaurants couldn’t have happened in Rye — the food scene in the city of 16,000 was lacking. However, in recent years Purchase Street has blossomed into a worthy dining out destination. So much so that A Taste of Rye,  a restaurant crawl where participants get a drink and an appetizer at participating restaurants/food purveyors, is in its fourth year. The event takes place Saturday, September 16 from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m., and My Sisters’ Place, a non-profit working to end violence in intimate relationships and combat the effects of domestic violence/human trafficking, is the benefiting charity.

“Over the last few years, we’ve raised more than $100,000 for this worthwhile organization,” says agent Liz Bradley of Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty Rye. The real estate firm co-sponsors the crawl, which attracted 250 people in 2016.

Participating businesses include Aurora, Fogama, Morgans Fish House, Rosemary and Vine, Ruby’s Oyster Bar & Bistro, Blue Tulip Chocolates, Wine at Five, Bareburger and the Rye Grill & Bar.

“I hope even more members of the community will be able to attend and volunteer their time to help end domestic violence and human trafficking at this year’s event,” adds Bradley.

Tickets can be purchased online at atasteofrye.com, and exchanged for a wristband at the company’s Rye brokerage, located at 49 Purchase Street between Starbucks and Ruby’s Oyster Bar. While there, check out the gift basket donated by the New York Giants, to be auctioned to the highest bidder.
