Say goodbye to overplucked eyebrows! Sania’s Brow Bar wants to make full, groomed brows shine in Westchester County.
There comes a time, for many a youth, when the desire to pick up tweezers and “groom” the brows seems like a good thing to do. But you know the story. It starts with one hair, then one hair turns into a few, then, before you know it, you’ve tweezed off half your eyebrow and need to do the same to the other one to give your face any semblance of symmetry.
Fortunately, you need never fear over-tweezing your brows again. Thanks to Sania’s Brow Bar in Scarsdale, full and well-groomed brows are within reach.
If the brow bar seems familiar, that’s because it got its start in New York City back in 2005 when leading brow expert and eponymous creator Sania Vucetaj opened the studio as an alternative brow-grooming solution to the over-tweezing and waxing she witnessed while earning her esthetician license and working at Bergdorf Goodman. After expanding her NYC location to Chelsea in 2011, Vucetaj extended her reach up to Westchester with a second location in Scarsdale in 2021.
Today, a visit to Sania’s Brow Bar is all about making the most of your natural brows. The brow bar is a family business, with Vucetaj’s daughters and niece working alongside her between the brand’s two locations. At the Scarsdale studio, Sania’s daughter Valbona, or Val, serves as a brow expert and head of product development and head of operations. Val, who graduated from NYU in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and economics, takes the same approach as her mother when it comes to treating faces like canvases and emphasizing natural brows.
“We have a lot of clients out here, and I’m out here, so it just makes sense,” says Val of the expansion into Scarsdale. (She and her family reside in Westchester.) When asked about the community’s reception to Sania’s presence in the 914, she enthuses, “It’s been great,” adding that many of the business’s original clients already lived in Westchester, so the second location has been even more convenient for them.
For clients who stop by for a brow consultation, Sania’s Brow Bar is just as much about educating as it is grooming. During the brow shaping process, which is available for both women and men, the brow experts rely on tweezing and trim scissors only – no wax here! – to shape brows into full, natural-looking arches. Along they way, they also share insights on how to grow out your brows and keep them in tip-top shape. As Val notes, for anyone interested in promoting brow growth, it’s important to keep product, such as lotions and foundations, away from the brow area to prevent clogged follicles. She recommends filling in your brows first, then proceeding with the rest of your skincare and makeup routine, to minimize product overload in the brow zone.
Once the grooming process is complete, Sania’s team can help with filling in as well. Val notes that it’s important to fill from the inside out, using light and feathery strokes, so brows don’t look overdone. Sania’s Brow Bar carries its own line of brow pencils, precision blade scissors, and slant tip tweezers, which were selected and designed by Vucetaj and her team to help craft the perfect brow experience.
Of course, as with many a beauty procedure, maintenance is key. Val recommends stopping by for a quick grooming every six to eight weeks to ensure brows stay in top shape. As the brand’s website declares, “repair, shape, maintain” is the key to success when it comes to eyebrows. And, if Sania’s Brow Bar’s longevity in the brow grooming space is any indication, it seems to have success down pat.
