Salem Golf Club has opened a family activity center to go with the swimming pool it built last year. A grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony this spring signaled completion of the latest in the club’s continual stream of capital improvements designed to increase appeal to a diverse family membership.
The expansive activity center houses locker rooms for the pool, a well-equipped fitness center, private studios for Pilates, yoga, and massage, and a dedicated children’s activity room. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the pool that opened last year. There’s also a new indoor golf instruction center with simulator and other electronics to aid player development.
Improvements continue to the golf course as well. Under the USGA’s guidance, a selective tree removal program has somewhat opened a few of the playing angles on a few holes while substantially boosting air circulation and sunshine for better turf conditions.
The club added a small fleet of golf boards, too, which are proving popular, especially with younger members. The boards carry an individual player and bag of clubs while they swoop and glide over the turf to their ball.
