Saks Fifth Avenue Opens First OFF 5th Outlet In Westchester

All the luxury and selection of Saks, sans travel time.

Saks Fifth Avenue needs no introduction in the fashion retail world, but up until this week, Westchester shoppers had to make quite a trip to browse their massive selection of luxurious brands—whether it meant traveling into the city, Woodbury Commons, or Bergen County, NJ, for their outlet stores. But that all changed this week when Saks opened its first OFF 5th outlet in the White Plains Shopping Center.

The store was christened with a (bright pink) ribbon cutting ceremony. “We want to start opening up stores where our customer not only work, but also where they live,” said Jonathan Greller, (Saks parent company) Hudson’s Bay Company’s president of the outlets. “White Plains is sort of the bull’s eye of Westchester. We believe this is a tremendous opportunity to succeed in this location.”

Long before the doors opened, crowds amassed outside, eagerly waiting to get into store. The event began with a ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches from Greller and Greenburg Town Supervisor Paul Finer. “I think a lot of people are thrilled because they know they’re going to be getting fantastic deals,” Finer said.

When you walk into the 25,000-square-foot store, you can’t help but look everywhere—and it’s organized so you can see from one end to the other. There are handbags to the right, racks and racks of clothes in front of you, and, behind that, rows of shoes. As you make your way through the store, you find that it carries just about everything, from women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel, to jewelry, accessories, shoes, handbags, and sunglasses from designers like Armani, Burberry, Michael Kors, and Marc by Marc Jacobs. It’s truly an exciting experience for the most savvy shoppers. “It’s really about finding good finds everyday,” Greller said. “We go out there and search the market for great merchandise that you can find at a value—We have over 800 brands throughout the store all at a great value.”
