The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club holds a weeklong celebration of the club’s 125th anniversary with a series of golf events in the week leading up to its Gala Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City on Saturday evening, June 8. The First Tee of Metropolitan New York and the Folds of Honor Foundation will be key beneficiaries of the celebration.
“Our 125th anniversary gives us an opportunity to celebrate this unique milestone while giving back to the broader golf community to which Saint Andrew’s belongs,” says George Miller, president of the Saint Andrew’s Golf Club. “We have structured the program to include a charitable element—a focus on investing in future generations of golfers—which we believe endows it with an even greater purpose and wider significance.”
The club’s 125th anniversary program kicks off June 4 with the Folds of Honor Golf Tournament, a pro-am to support the families of members of the military who have been killed or disabled in serving their country. On June 5, the day is dedicated to women golfers with the 125th Anniversary Girls Golf and FORE! Pro-Am, coordinated with The First Tee and Met PGA to promote the development of life skills and golf for young women. On Friday, June 7, an invitation-only event features celebrity players paired with Saint Andrew’s members and guests.
The marquis celebration will be Saturday, June 8—a Gala Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Waldorf Astoria (the historic venue for its previous anniversary celebrations). All of the net proceeds from the gala and its associated events will be dedicated to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York, the youth development organization that serves more than 5,000 young people in the metropolitan area.
