Rye’s Elk Homes Just Proposed a New Luxury Mixed-Use Development in the Heart of Larchmont

The 55,000-square-foot project aims to add homes, retail, and much-needed parking to the village’s downtown.

Elk Homes, the Rye-based home developer, has brought a proposal before the Village of Larchmont Board, initiating the first steps in its new plans for the village’s downtown area.

The proposal calls for several dilapidated buildings which currently residing on the 108-114 Chatsworth Ave. plot to be torn down. Replacing them will be “Centro Larchmont,” a 55,000 square foot mixed-use space comprising 23 luxury and 3 affordable condominium units, as well as 5,000 square feet of first floor retail space and 50 parking spaces for residents and merchants.

The new units will range from 900 to 3,500 square feet and sport two and three bedroom designs with up to 3.5 baths. Planned building amenities also include a 24-hour doorman and a new pedestrian walkway making Chatsworth Avenue accessible by residents and shoppers from the parking lot on the North side of Wendt Ave., which will be converted into a two-story parking structure that effectively doubles its current parking capacity.

The project is expected to bring considerable revenue to the town, including an estimated $4 million alone in property tax revenue over the first 10 years, approximately 60% of which will be apportioned to local schools.

The process of approving the development of Centro Larchmont has only just begun, and the Village of Larchmont has built a dedicated webpage for locals to follow along with the project and its opportunities to provide public input.
