The Rye Ridge Fitness & Wellness Fair is open this Friday and Saturday to help you kick start your weekend.
Grab your sneakers and head to Rye Brook this weekend for a healthy fair not to be missed. Rye Ridge Plaza will be hosting the Rye Ridge Fitness & Wellness Fair on Friday, October 16 and Saturday October 17. Activities include free fitness classes, wellness classes, and family activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The two-day fitness fair will offer free outdoor workouts from SLT Rye Brook, Backyard Bodies, and Rhonda Hunt; assisted stretches and Hypervolt massages from Stretch*d; dance performances from East Pointe Dance; and demos and sampling from the wellness community. Programs are available for people of all ages and athletic ability. Also hosting are hair salon Totally Hott Salon and Chill Cryo, both located in the shopping center.
Many of the event hosts are longtime favorites, but newer businesses hosting are hoping the fair will be a way to interact with locals, possibly for the first time since the pandemic.
Vanessa Chu, co-founder of Stretch*d, a one-on-one assisted stretching facility, which opened in Rye Ridge Plaza in March, says that since they are new to the community, participating in the fair is “a way to meet our neighbors and show everyone how we ‘Get Loose’ at Stretch*d.”
The event is a prime opportunity for local to get moving in a safe and secure way, after spending so much time sedentary at home.
Marcy Modica is the founder of Backyard Bodies, a fitness business born from the pandemic. Over the last few months, she hosted classes weekly in her driveway as a way to connect with others, during a time when gyms were closed. Modica, a physical therapist and Pilates instructor who has taught at SLT, says, “We have missed so much human connection during the pandemic and can’t wait to see everyone outside and in person to motivate and bring our community together.”
Social distancing and safety guidelines are being enforced throughout the weekend. Participants must pre-register for classes, and will automatically be entered to win a $500 health and wellness package.
