Richard Rockefeller Killed In Plane Crash Near Westchester County Airport

A great-grandson of Standard Oil founder John D. Rockefeller, Richard Rockefeller, died Friday morning at 8:15 when the small plane he was piloting crashed shortly after takeoff from Westchester County Airport.

The Piper PA-46 went down about a mile from the airport, near Cottage Road in Harrison.

Dense fog and low visibility were reported near the airport, causing Westchester County Airport to delay or cancel several morning flights.
